About Jodi
Jodi Noble is a west coast artist living and creating in beautiful British Columbia.
Jodi’s Story
Jodi grew up in Lancaster, PA, with two brothers and raised by very close grandparents. After high school, she went to University to study Dental Hygiene and Public Health. In her 20’s, she moved to California for family, economic reasons and better weather. It was there she met the love of her life, who swept her off her feet all the way to Victoria, British Columbia. The next few years were incredibly busy raising two children and pursuing her chosen career.
Inspired by her grandmother’s artwork , she started her own art journey in 2009.
Beatrice
My creative journey embarked in my formative years as I navigated LIFE! On occasion, I lived with my grandmother, Beatrice Hoffman. Beatrice (also known as Busy “Bee” to friends and family) was a warrior! Her determination to pursue her passion despite various adversities taught me to work hard and always see the beauty in the world. Just watching her journey as an artist has helped me understand and love it even more!
Her art included oils, watercolours and tinsel painting. She was showcased in the book by Constance Stapleton called Crafts of America.
Artistic Path
My love of painting began in 2009 with watercolours and mixed media collage. After 13 years of study, I ventured into Mixed Media and Abstract Impressionistic Acrylics and Oils. I found my voice in Acrylics! I love the movement of paint strokes with large brushes on large canvases, loose and lost, light and airy, along with the many different textures and mediums that bring the canvas to life. My hope is the viewer is drawn in to pause and reflect, feel emotion, see wonder, hope, and joy in my work.
My processes in acrylic and mixed media are open ended, layering papers, plastic, tissue paper, linen, organics and whatever may draw my fancy in the moment to create the illusion of my reference and my imagination. I want to capture you into my world and joy of creation!
I love collecting beach glass, rocks and glass balls during my travels. I hang the glass balls from our apple trees in the garden. I love how they glisten in the sun and blow with the wind, just like life!
Travel and Other Influences
I have been very fortunate to travel around the world and can identify so many places that help form my artistic vision. My first major trip was to Uruguay for three months as a foreign exchange student. I quickly learned to love the language, food and the various short trips to the coast and Argentina. When I think of Italy, I’m awed by the history and architecture, the colour, the food and wine and how much enjoyment all these things give to people. I try to incorporate all of this beauty and life experience into my art.
Dental Hygiene was part of my creative journey as well. The meticulous nature of the field and my passion for excellence compelled me to deliver the utmost in care, compassion, and empathy for my patients to help ensure their overall health improved. The long-standing relationships with colleagues and patients are so meaningful and inspiring to me as I move forward in my new artsy world!
